Congratulate me or Pray for me!
Got my first Jaguar. It is the 1989 XJS2 in Pearl White with Tan interior. It is pretty much stock except for the paint. It is is good running order from what I see and hear but I have not driven it yet.
Purchased off the front yard of a farm in Bucks County, PA, USA. I fell in love with it as I drove by. Next thing you know, I did a U-Turn and came back to look at it. Not only did I like the car but it was on my friends farm. I called him to find out it was his brother-n-law's car. Now I was salavating!
I am very busy and in the middle of moving to another town when I decided to take another look about a month later (last week) and the car was gone..
I thought I lost it to another "luster"..... turns out the owner took it home to clean it up for inspection by another potential buyer. I asked what he offered and I offered him $500 more. The rest is history.
Problem is that a week has passed and I still did not pick it up yet because I'm too busy with work. Its paid for and fully insured. I can't do anything but research it until I get it.
This forum has a wealth of information. I just found Kirby Palms book and now I'm really excited...... Take a look!
Thoughts and comments are welcome. Im no stranger to on-line forums. I'm a motorcycle freak.......

I think congratulations are in order.
I lived outside of Chalfont a very long time ago, so I sort of know your area. Graduated from Doylestown HS, the old one, which burned.
Be sure and look after the "urgent" items common to all of the V12 engines.
Good luck, and enjoy your beautiful automobile.

My '87 is Nimbus White (I think on this side of the pond we'd call that light beige) but my second color choice would be the color of yours.
Not sure about the "pretty much stock" thing...I didn't think Jaguar ever put wire wheels on at the factory, and that steering wheel looks a bit to cool to have come out of the plant (I wish I had one like it though)...but I could be wrong on both counts. Someone correct me on this.
Anyway, welcome aboard! Let us know what it looks like under the bonnet, that's where the run really begins :-)
Cheers,
John

Finally got it registered but since I am in the process of moving my home and office at the same time, all I could do was drive it to the Body Shop to be stored for a few weeks.
The steering was loose and that Wood steering wheel was off center and must go. Good thing the origional one is in the trunk.
Also, it sounds like the exhaust is restricted... almost like there is a rag stuck in the pipe. The body shop will straighten out hood seams that were disturbed during paint and never perfectly aligned. The front not only feels loose but the wheels have a wobble at 50mph. owner said to expect that because of the new tires. NOT EXCEPTABLE to me! I will return to the tire place for rebalancing. Everything else is good.
Oh yeah....it was tough hanging my left elbo out the window because the seat is so low....anybody try raising the seat?

Have the rack bushes inspected these have a tendency to get wobbly as they get old. I replaced mine with poly and this transformed the car, made the steering much more direct and it lost that boat feeling.
