Default Convertible top “swap”

First post here on the forum. I bought a 1990 XJs in beautiful condition, minus the canvas top. I’ve worked on MGs for many years, but this is a whole new arena. I feel confident with most jobs, but replacing the canvas top, with a professional look, has me questioning the job myself. I will, but does it ever make sense to just swap the whole top from a donor vehicle? I’ve seen a few “locally “ within a few hours where the vehicle is being parted out and the canvas is in great shape. The headliner in mine is excellent. So it would be just the canvas, if I do it myself . Is a “swap” even something to consider? It would have to be the frame, headliner and canvas I’m assuming to make it worthwhile.
thanks
