A few weeks ago I found a man with a '90 XJS that he is parting out.
Two of the things I have bought was a Jaguar Tool Kit and a First Aid kit.
I noticed that both of these kits have Velcro on their bottoms. Does anyone know where these kit would have been located in the trunk/boot?
Was there a shelf or some other type of mount where these boxes would have been placed?
Also, some of you might have noticed that a few tools in the box are missing. I know that one is a small wrench and another is a light bulb but I don't know the identification of the others. Please let me know if you can identify the missing tools.
The spanners go in sizes downwards. So the small one will be the next two sizes down (pretty sure they will be imperial A/F, not metric, but it will be the same as on the others.
Cannot help with the bulbs, but I think, repeat think, the long space with the finger notches is for a stick-type tyre pressure gauge.
On pre facelifts at least, the tool case was jammed in the space between the exhaust tunnel and the rear wing! UK cars did not get a first aid kit, which looks German in origin? Maybe the TUV insists on german cars having one?
unfortunately i think you will find that the tool kit, though genuine Jaguar isn't made for the XJS , its more likely to be for the X300/XJ40 saloon which was in production the same time
the XJS tool kit has a blown plastic case with the handle moulded into the shape
also , the XJS tool kit never had the adjustable spanner , and the wheel nut wrench was a different shape( missing in your kit ) and the spark plug spanner is a box spanner with tommy bar
still nice to have , as i understand you guys in the US didn't get one as standard ??
From what I have learned so far I believe you are correct that the USA XJS's never came with tool kits. I'm assuming that the previous owner of that parts car must have ordered the kits or acquired them somewhere.
For me they are interesting things to have and the price was right so I grabbed them. Unfortunately he did not have any of the original owners manuals or other items that would have come with the car when new.
The tool kit has metric wrenches and comes in a molded plastic box with a Jaguar logo but it does not have a handle. The First Aid kit appears to be German, maybe the tool kit is German as well. Possibly an eBay buy from the previous owner.
I like finding unusual Jaguar accessories so I'm happy to add these to my collection.
depending on the year, the screwdriver is ' reversible ' , the flat blade can be turned round to a philips , but don't force it to try , as not all were !!!!
so , to help if i can , i have the smallest spanner and the correct tyre pressure gauge if your interested, and i can throw in some spare lamps and a fuse

The early XJS kit was the same as that used in the Series 3 saloon, as BB said in a plastic case with handle.
However, it changed in 1989 and was then in a plastic case but without a handle. The same kit was then used in late XJ40s. There are 2 versions of that late kit, one with the spare bulbs and one without. The XJS could be provided with a bracket holder above the CD-changer in the boot to mount the kit, but most cars just had it loose.
X300 saloons had a different kit built into a recess in the RH inner wing under the bonnet.
Don't forget that whatever is in the First Aid kit will be utterly useless after several decades so chuck it all out and replace with new stuff; it may as well be practical as well as just looking pretty.

With the USA XJS, Jaguar never provided a tool kit or a first aid kit.as a standard item. So when judging occurs no points would be removed or added for having these items or not having them,,,Correct?
