Cost for replacing 1988 xjs rear break

I live in Chicago, but that sounds average. I was quoted $1100 about 2 years ago, but I decided to do it myself. Not an easy job, I believe yours are inboard brakes,like mine are, so it requires the shop to drop your complete rear end to get to the brakes, if they're installing new rotors, which for $1200, they better. I believe in mid-1993 they switched over to outboards ( much easier and cheaper to replace) Good luck

That's sounds about right if he's replacing the pads, calipers, and rotors.
Replacing the pads alone doesn't take 30 minutes !
