I live in Chicago, but that sounds average. I was quoted $1100 about 2 years ago, but I decided to do it myself. Not an easy job, I believe yours are inboard brakes, like mine are, so it requires the shop to drop your complete rear end to get to the brakes, if they're installing new rotors, which for $1200, they better. I believe in mid-1993 they switched over to outboards ( much easier and cheaper to replace) Good luck

Do ensure the discs, pads and calipers are renewed and handbrake mechanism fully cleaned and lubricated with new bronze forks and pads used. Also that the rear brake flexible is renewed. The extra parts cost is relatively small and if done properly you will be good for 10 years.

That's sounds about right if he's replacing the pads, calipers, and rotors.

Replacing the pads alone doesn't take 30 minutes !

I've replace inboard pads on the E type and it is a 30 min. job through the rear seat area. The S with inboard requires a skilled mechanic and can be done in about an hour. It is still a PITA without a car lift!

Skilled mechanic?

Pull the pins out, remove old pads, drop in new pads, reinstall pins!

But, yeah, if it's a DIY job you'll spend 30 minutes getting the car up and on jackstands.

Cheers
