fastkat; actually Nascar uses a V8 at 5.7L, but it is completely different than any other Nascar engine!
called by GM an RO7 , also nothing used from SBC or the great LS series engines!
a most interesting about the RO7 is the CGI(compacted graphite iron block), 30% lighter, but 75% stronger than regular gray cast iron!
put into perspective aluminum is 40% lighter than regular cast iron(roughly), but also 40% less strength than regular cast iron, so the coming of many newer blocks will be CGI!

to add to some facts about the V8 super cars VS the Nascar race cars.
they showed up at the F1 track here(15 miles from where i live), for some race fun,(couple months ago. and both side drivers were allowed to make hot laps, in the other guys cars(thats gotta be fun).
practice times were very close, seems as tho the V8 Supers were handling corners better, but on the straight aways, the Nascar was faster!
thats SO American!!!LOL,LOL
officials would not allow racing both programs together, every body was frothing at the bit,, maybe some day?

I saw that - it was telecast here in Aus. Those NASCAR's are fast. V8 supercars are quite limited in engine mods max 5000cc and 7500rpm limiters so power is around 650hp with quite small rubber. Good racing and very tight at the top usually less than 1/10 second in qualifying between the top 10.

NICE adml, an LS9, Cadillac V supercharged engine and TRANSMISSION!!
i do like your choice of engines and drive components.
did you get harness and computor with the set up?
is the trans. a 6 speed?
to change the subject , you are correct in saying Jag V12s are diffecult to make serious power(if i understand you), you can spend really big money to make an actual 500hp at the flywheel!

It came as set with harness, relays, computers.
I'm waiting for adapter from Australia to fit Nissan transfer case, then I will instal it and upgrade clutch plates to Raybestos at once...

For sure it is not cheap and easy.
I do not criticize the idea of Calvin and I would like him to be happy when finally starts his engine, I appreciate his enthusiasm. On the other hand, I do not think the end he realizes how difficult the task executes and how many problems must be solved...
Are you aware of changed mean piston speed and it's consequences ?
What about air/fuel delivery ? What about ignition ? Exhaust, water/oil cooling...

for tuning I'm going to AJ6 engineering and having him.make the computer I need. the ignition is.the same system Ron is running. the Crain optical trigger.
aside from bigger banjo bolts I haven't messed with the oiling system. wont be doing crazy rpms because this is in an.agressive street car.
as for piston speed I'm using a stroke combination that has been previously used by many people. and is also still less than the 6l

Be carful of the optronic, it works fine by its self but they often have incompatible voltages. Standard works fine but dependent upon the system used the spark can 'blow out' at 4200 rpm or soon after comp ratio dependant. This is why Jaguar used the piggy back system , ie to gain an extra 1,000 - 1500 revs before the blow out. Been there and done it. From memory its something like only 5 thou of a second coil recharge time at 5k rpm; but do the maths yourself. Better to go for the magnetti twin coil system or coil pack system.
If you ant to know what problems you are going to have clearly state bore, stroke, rod length, journal size, crank drilling, cams and comp ratio, oil pump and flow system.
