I have a 94 XJS 6 Cyl with auto trans and it normally starts in a second or so, but all of a sudden, it now takes 15 sec of cranking over before it will finally sputter and start up. After it carnks all is fine for the drive, as far as I can tell. It does not make a difference whether it is hot or cold, it does this every single time I get in it. I was thinking fuel check valve but then I looked and could not find a check valve for my model. Is it part of the pump? I also thought bad fuel pressure regulator, but I am not sure.
I pulled out my fuel pump relay and stuck a jumnper in to turn my fuel pump on constanly and then I got it and turned the key, and it cranked almost imediatly. I say almost because I think it is still barely a little longer then normal but just by a half second or so. Any help is appreciated!

hey, okay so i had a simular problem with my 96 xjs. after spending too much time and throwing away money (and replacing the crank/cam sensor) i broke down and brought to the dealer.
there was an open recall on the egr valve and updated prom for the computer.
you should check that out.
cheers!
