Crankshaft Damper XJS V 6.0 1994
#21
Five years ago, I found only two places in the world where rebuild the damper. "Doctor damper" and other I do not remember who. They are in the USA.
Then a long time ago I was thinking of restoring mine with a modern damper. My hub grind and screw from V8 for example. But I did not find a damper with a pulley for the alternator. Many performance dampers are bolted to the hub.

Could you post a few more details please? eg What is heat cured poly, etc, how did you set up the jig and balance the thing afterwards?
Thanks in advance

Jig is shown in pic along with the poly and primer. Jig is simple nylon disc machined to dimension which centres both parts of damper and also sets the linear alignment. Bonding surfaces are blasted, primed and then preheated and positioned on jig, poly mixed and poured into cavity then into oven for set period at set temp.
Worth mention that mine is marelli damper with timing fingers on back of hub and when pulley set is bolted to front of damper the outer damper ring (alternator pulley) is held captive even if bond totally fails and can do no damage to any associated parts. After 5 years I am confident this fix works but initially would probably not have attempted it on a lucas car.
Since both parts of damper were original set and alignment was as original l did not bother with any form of balancing. Shore hardness was an educated guess to try and match original bond flex.
