Cruise Control Retainer Screw

Cruise Control Retainer Screw
Well crud. In the course of repairing the Marelli ignition failure (coils and rotor) on my '91 V12 coupe, I forgot the location of the safe place I put the cruise control retainer screw (the one that attaches the cable to the bellows). Of course, it is made of that rarest of minerals, Unobtainium. Per Jagbits, the part number is SH804121J. Anyone know of a source, or have a spare they would sell?

On further examination, I located the a source for nipple (CAC2552) that actually holds the cable; now I just need the screw itself. I didn't realize the two pieces had separate parts numbers. I'm hoping I will be able to find a screw in my spares that will fit. Kudos to Terry's Jags for a good selection and great prices.

I envy the convenience of "on demand" parts availability.

Baxtor,
I guess the whole dealer access is different in Oz, but assume you can still just order online from Jaguar through the Australia pricing interface? Find Jaguar Classic Parts Online | Jaguar Classic Parts UK

Gator8,
Jaguar's Classic Parts division usually state say that there are no shipping costs if the part is ordered through a Jaguar Dealer for collection at the dealer. So I assume that applies to US dealers. If your dealer is being awkward about ordering in the part, try giving Classis Parts division a call and explain the problem and the dealer's name to them. Good luck

Gator8 & Baxtor,
Just to let you know that I spoke our club contact, the manager at Jaguar Classic Parts just now and he confirmed that the prices quoted on the website are the suggested retail prices and there should be NO shipping charges if the part is ordered and collected through a Jaguar Dealer in the USA or Australia. Naturally there may be local country taxes applicable, as we have with VAT here in the UK.
In addition, the website price is intended to be a local country price applicable for a period of up to 12 months. So, if there has been a massive currency fluctuation recently, the actual price charged by the dealer may be different, but it should be broadly the same.
There are also storage and distribution warehouses in both the USA & Australia, so many parts may be quickly available and do need to be actually shipped out from the UK for each order.
So Gator8,, the 2 buck cruise control screw should cost you only that if you have a local dealer. I do appreciate that your dealer may not be just down the road as it is for me, but the principle still applies!
Hope that all helps

Thanks Paul, but the site does not show the part available--they say "contact us." I've got the other part coming and will try to find a screw that fits.

Gator8,
When the thread first started, there was a price on that screw on the website. So they may be just out of stock. In my experience, sometimes when it says "Contact Us" they still have stock. It's worth giving JCP a call or just asking your dealer to look it up on their system. Their system identifies stock levels.
Good luck

as its a very small grub screw , i doubt you will find one other than on a scrapper car,
an alternative ( temporarily ) is to use an electrical ' chock block ' connector ( 5 amp )
strip away the plastic insulation and you are left with a tube with two holes for the connector screws
works just the same

And, it's reconnected and working perfectly. This little trick worked for me: use a short sewing needle and thread. Tie the thread to the cable, an inch or so behind the end. Then, pull the cable through the bracket, run the needle and thread through the front jam nut but leave it off the ferrule, and thread the needle through the cable retainer. Then, pull the thread through, with the cable attached. This keeps everything in place and lined up. Screw the front jam nut on the ferrule and tighten it, pushing the cable through the retainer. Tighten the retainer set screw and the jam nuts, and you're done.
