Dancing a bit
Today it was 75 in Denver, I pulled the battery tender and went to the store, I believe this is the first trip in 9 months. I feel like steering is dancing a bit, but maybe I just don't remember. I drive a Tesla as my daily and the steering is hard as rock. Does the XJS float and dance a bit? I have a new front and rear end as of last year.

A couple of thoughts:
- Tyre pressures? Did you check them before the trip?
- Tyre flatting. If the car has been sat for 9 months and not moved, you could have some flatspotting of the tyres. Driving for a while until the tyres are warm usually resolves it, but you might get some strange handling sensation for a few miles.

I don't know if you noticed it more while braking but I've experienced,,, even after short lay ups,,, a little wobble in the wheel due to brake discs needing to be "skimmed" by the brake pads. Where the pad SAT during the lay up has a different texture than what was exposed, if ya know what I mean...?
