Dear all,
I had my lovely on a nice trip from England to the Netherlands when halfway he developed a lovely thick white smoke from the left side of the engine. Off to my garage and yes blown head gasket. Now i have a question can i swop my engine (V12) for a american v12 engine? are there main differences with the years and with uk ones compared to American ones. To all a happy x-mas and a good new year. May we always be driving. (just not in mine on the moment!)
all advise is welcome.

The USA market V12s have lower compression and different emission controls so you'll lose about 35 horsepower. Other than that, I don't see any problem....not that I've ever done it myself, mind you.
Actually, anything related to emissions could be swapped from the old engine to the replacement engine thus keeping Euro-spec equipment in place. But, of course, changing pistons to keep the Euro-spec compression ratio isn't in feasible in this scenario.
I'll add that there were minor running changes to the engine over the course of years but I can't think of anything that would make the idea unworkable.
Cheers
