Is Deionised Water the Same as Distilled Water?

Yes, basically the same.
Distilled or purified (through resins) is aiming at removing salts that are constitued by ions (anions and cations).
There is always some left, but negligible to favour electrical conduction (and at the very end H+ and OH-, but at concentrations of 10 to the minus 7)

Ahhhhhh Yes!
I couldn't have put it better myself (Lol)
Thanks for your help I'll get some.

Hi OB,
Just to clarify, are you talking about water for your cooling system or your battery?
For my cooling systems, I admit that I just tend to use a 50-60% concentrate of anti-freeze and mix that with filtered tap water. By using a good anti-corrosion mix and filtered water with much of the limescale removed, and knowing that I'll be changing the coolant within a few years, I think that's quite acceptable.
Cheers
Paul

The Water down my way is so Hard that every time you turn on the Tap a voice says 'What You Lookin at!'
So I've ordered 25L of De-Ionised water, which was only £10 so when mixed 50/50 I will have plenty to do all my Jags as well as the Merc.

I have a theory about engine coolant. Here in Houston we don't worry to much about freezing but we do about overheating. I keep a 50/50 mixture of quality antifreeze and city water in the coolant system. I do two checks: one for freezing temperature and one for PH. So far each test maintain a constant value. I do not change coolant but do supplement with a conditioner I.E. rust and corrosion inhibitor. So far no overheating even with A/C and no signs of deterioration.
