Default Distributor Service

Hi!
A long time Jaguar owner here who loves to work on these cars.
I've been trying to get younger people into owning and working on these great cars and my idea is to make useful videos on maintenance tips and tricks.
Here is one on servicing a V12 distributor. Enjoy!

Thanks,
Adam

I'm not young but I've already subscribed to your channel and watched most videos already as I'm new to Jags.

Best argument for a Jag is driving one daily, living proof they're great in (almost) any road conditions, that and asking people would you rather finance a base model honda civic or own a true classic for less? I've near totally redone my car well beyond what was required...still costs less than the midrange civic.

That is very true! That's why I have several classics and no new car. My newest car is my daily driver and even that one is 23 years old

Useful video, as my V12 has developed a slow leak from somewhere--I left it for nearly three weeks while overseas, and after driving it when getting back, there was a large stain of oil underneath and a drip forming on the middle front of the oil sump. I haven't been able to check underneath yet (the leak is very slow--I've been checking the dipstick each time I set out, and looking for ground stains after parking at work (none)) but now thanks to your video, I shall take another look at the top end and the cam cover gasket area in particular.

Hi Adam - I also have seen all your videos.
Very helpful.

My 89 V12 also has a slow leak, pretty sure its the cam cover and maybe the oil pan as that is were the oil ends up dripping from.
As summer is hitting in NZ this will have to wait until next winter.
Thanks for posting the vids.

I’m lucky to have a old distributor machine that’s modified to work on Jaguar V12s.. You don’t need it for street driven Cars but modified race cars it’s important.
it makes altering advance curves, and if the posts on the distributor cap are slightly off that can be fatal to the engine.
most Lucas caps Ive checked are pretty decent. However that isn’t always the case.
