Default Door moulding removal

I am looking for an XJS. A lot of them had that ugly body moulding on the doors. Can you remove them without having to do body work afterwards? Thx

Best answer IMHO is sometimes. If the moldings have been on many years it's harder. Getting them off isn't bad but they can leave marks where they were that you may or maybe not be able to buff out.

Are they on with 3M tape? Would there be a hole anywhere after the removal?

Not sure about that, might want to wait for another member to chime in and answer that question.

Depends on the dealer that installed them. A lot of them were riveted on.

That's the thing, if they are aftermarket, probably no holes just tape. Are they aftermarket add-on's, I don't know.

if they have "jaguar pressed into the front wing moulding there genuine jaguar accessory and they are held on with double sided tape, I recently took mine off with cheese wire for a re-spray and replaced the tape and chrome covers

If you pop off the door panel and check back side of door behind moulding you should feel if its screwed or riveted on.
Pita. Better safe than sorry.

if they are the stick on ones, you may be able to use a hairdryer to heat it up some and losen the glue. afterward you may have some residue, but that should come off easy using some Goo Gone
