Default Door panel removal

I'm wondering if someone has the correct sequence for removing the door panels from 1992 xjs convertible v12 to replace the wood veneer

Iirc...

Unscrew the door arm rest (pull the little chrom trim back a tad, behind there is a screw).
Undo the lower screws at the bottom and front lf the door card.
Remove the door open light.

That was it if I remember correctly. Though I've probably missed something.

Thanks Diam the chrome cover for armrest is the one giving me trouble trying not to force to much but it's on there tight

It is only clipped. I really had a tough time with mine. DON'T wedge a screwdriver in there... That will damage the door card...

Tom,

I'm guessing that your 92 has a small leather sleeve over the end of the door armrest pull. It is difficult but see if you can slightly twist it as you pull it back. In addition, try and move it back only the smallest amount in order to get a screwdriver on the large screw. In addition, you need to remove the small screw attaching the triangular chrome escutcheon plate in the top far corner.

Once those are removed and all the plastic "fir cone" plugs have been gently prised out (feel for all of them with your fingers) you then need to lift up the whole door card which is attached to the door frame with two plates that engage in slots in the door frame.

As it detaches (you may need to slightly slide it sideways), you then need to carefully unplug the single electrical lead near the bottom of the door.

Finally got the panel off, I was just been to worried I was forcing the issue too much
As it is I did break the door light lamp

Unfortunately it sounds like it's too late but there's no need to remove the door open light to remove the door card.

A trick to removing the chrome bezel is to wrap the leather with string to compress it and then slide the bezel. Not only does it compress the leather it also protects it from scuff marks. Kinda like removing a small ring from a fat finger
