Default Dried out seats.

I did not want to stick this one with the spark plugs so I put it here. The seats are very dry and stiff but they do not crack when you sit in them. What do I need to do to bring them back to life? And, where can I get some rubber plugs for the round holes in the trunk? Some of the ones I have are so bent out of round that they are useless, and I do not need any holes in my trunk.

Saddle Soap might help. just test on small areas before doing the whole seats to make sure it is not discoloring the seats or anything. although I doubt it will.

Many, including me, have used Leatherique to soften dry leather. I've also used a home brewed mixture of lanolin and neatsfoot oil. Messy but effective. There are many other choices. Any of them will take some time to work....months of repeated applications. And if the leather is too far gone nothing with help.

Cheers

Can't remember where I first found this (an old Ferrari owners' site?) , but it sure worked on my old MG seats. Just be aware that it will darken lighter coloured leather. Smear the leather with Neetsfoot oil, and I mean smear. Use your hands, and rub it all over well. Then cover the seats (or whatever) with Saran Wrap, and park the car in the sun somewhere with the windows up. The idea is to get the leather as warm as possible. The results are dramatic, particularly if the leather is dull-looking (porous). Wipe off the excess with an old towel before you sit on it, and re-apply whenever you get the chance. I do this on my XK8 when I put it away for the winter, and in the spring, the seats are like glove-leather.

I'll second the use of Leatherique to soften dry leather. I applied two applications to my seats / interior late last summer which helped quite a bit. The seats are in great shape, just very dry from having spent time in inland California for a couple of years. The car is now stored offsite for the winter where I drive it every two to three weeks or so to keep the fluids moving. I took it for a drive this week and the seats seemed much softer now than when I put it away in October. Another round of Leatherique is on the agenda for the Spring
