Default ''Duckbill'' location/access

Hello.
l have a wet passenger footwell in my 1982 XJS (FHC no sunroof) research tells me a good place to start is check and clean the duckbill..................but im not exactly sure where it is. ls it under the wiper scuttle? What do i have to take off to get to it.

The air intake plenum at the base of the windshield is drained by two tubes running from the firewall forward. Often clogged with leaves and debris

The plenum of the evaporator case, inside the cabin, is drained by two small tubes that run from the bottom of the evaporator case thru the floor board, just aft of where the engine and transmission come together. Easy to see if the car is elevated; gently clean with a stiff wire; be ready for a flood.

Either or both can account for wet floorboards (and, sometimes, wet feet!)

Hello Mark

The duckbill area.



After looking at these drains - I have come up with the following thoughts

If the plenum drains are clear - they drain straight over the front suspension, which is not good for the suspension over time
If the plenum drains are clogged - they drain down the left or right near your (or your passengers feet)
If the plenum drains are clogged - they eventually rust a hole in this duckbill area, and you get wet feet.even faster
If the plenum drains are incomplete - they drain just near the brake booster of windscreen wiper bottle, gets in underneath the heat insulation that is there and rusts a bit of the steel work

Just one of those features

I coated the interior of my car's wiper motor area with a marine grade rust converter/sealer, as per typical Jaguar design you'll notice the actual drain holes are slightly higher than the lowest point in the cavity...you'd think being in the UK they'd of prioritized drainage.

Not going to bother doing bondo plastic surgery just dump the sealer in till it flows out the drains worked so far
