On Ebay 1990 XJS V12 Rouge 34000 miles Florida
New member. I am from Florida. Always wanted a V12 Jag.
Can club members here tell me what they think of this car. Any problems with the 1990?
Looks very nice untouched with only 34000 miles. Even the original tires let alone the paint and the seats aren't even cracked.

That seems pricy for a 90. I have a 93 xj6, which is basically a sedan of that car, I liek to think at least. I paid 4,000 for mine, and usually that's what I see xjs's going for.
Nothing looks wrong with the car except those painted rims. I'd throw some D's on that.

This is a rare Spec EditionXJSin verynear 'concours' condition. FYI : Wheels are red as part of the 'Rouge Collection' edition options, as is the red piping on the leather interior. The exterior paint is completely original and looks awesome for 17 years in a California garage. Three more years and this car is a classic. Classic insurance from Grundys as well !! Interior is nearly new looking and in great condition. May I also mention it has full service history and clear CARFAX to confirm its mileage at 34,000. Engine looks clean and maintained with no oil leaks or excessive wear.TheJag is really clean.Thiscar lookseven more awesome in the flesh and the photo's just didn't do it justice. The seller lost an opportunity & extra dollars for poor photo's. The 90 XJS Rouge Collection edition seems to be quitepopularachieving pricesanywhere from $9k to $17k (which contradictsthe pricing of a normal 1990 XJS). You missed a great buy my friend. If your still searching for that XJS, next time go and look..... its better than kicking yourself for the one that got away.

well...., yes and no: it may have been arareedition, but the point herewas: why buy a 1990 when you can get a 1992 or 1993 V12 for less? Was the 1990 eBay car more reliable? I doubt it.
the 1992 and 1993 are the same thing if not a better deal, (less the red piping and the red painted wheels) And let's face it, the XJ-S is not such a desirable Jaguar, period.Very few like it. If you were talking about an XK-8, then that would be a different cat.
nobodyliked the wheels in that car(of those here who looked at it),and really, they were painted red, not cast in red, so anybody can do that to their wheels, orany other color if they wished. Copper would be nice.
The consensus is that it was priced too high. As you saw, it sold for just slightly over $10k. so I really don't thinkanyone hereis kicking themselves! in any case everyone here passed on it.
That brings me to my (right or wrong) personal opinionthat anythingselling in California is always sooverpriced.Jaguar parts for example, you can get them for 25% to 60% lessbuying from the East Coast, orthe South. And shipping costs from California? totally absurd. I stopped wasting time with Californiabecause, why would I want to pay so much more for anything?
Here's a good example: I needed a Sunroof rubber Seal for my '84 XJ-6. It still had the original and I noticed the rubber was cracking.
California price: $137.00 + $13.00 shipping. (aftermarket part by APA)
East Coast price: $69.00 + 7.95 shipping (aftermarket part APA)
South price:$ 44.00 + 4.95 shipping (aftermarket part APA)
from whowould you buy? A little research and a little patience got me an identical part to the original, and "made to Jaguar specifications". (APA is reproducing many Jaguar rubber parts and price depends on who you order from!) Obviously California is so overpriced. This is also true for parts for classic Jags, though not always the case for the South. I have found great prices way up North too.
Talking about 17 years, I am starting my 17th year of Jaguar ownership, so congratulations to me.

RE: On Ebay 1990 XJS V12 Rouge 34000 miles Florida
My o My, look at the consensus on the rare Rouge and Collectors Editions. No wonderI didn't get many replies to my posts regarding mine. Most of you XJS enthusiast's don't recognize it as special!First off they are selling everywhere in access of $10,000 when they sell. These specific models including on Ebay. granted these low production cars had very little as upgrades. Red Piping with Magnolia Leather, Matching Steering Wheel and Shift ***, Signal Red paintwork with a gold side stripe, diamond polished red spoked wheels and unique rear badging. New they went for about $51,000 in the day with what I can surmise plus up to $5000 for the body lit they have. Considering that from 1982 to 1992 2058, V12 XJS were built with 838 1987 Hes and Eisenhardt conversions I got to say I like my collectors and I like its rarity and i really like its body kit. Therewas one advertised in California for a little over $20,000 that had only 16,000 miles and I was actually thinking of buying it when i came acrosscelebrity owned one in Ohio.Oh BTW for allot less. But more than the $10000 most of you have said is TOO MUCH for this car. My car is a head turner. When ever i drive it people look. Just the other day an older handsome woman pulled up in herXK8 XKR VIC Convertible Edition and gave me thumbs up cause she recognized I was driving a Jag as well. You would be surprised how many people ask me what kind of a car is that?I'm just saying please don't say a 1992 XJS is a better buy than a collectors 89 or 90. I just cant agree with that!
