ECU Halp. (DAC 6335)
Hello all!
Long time no post. Been having to deal with life.
Basically, I need to replace or fix my ECU. I don't say this lightly, Morris was tested thoroughly for shorts or bad sensors, and all is working well. I took the ECU to be tested, and essentially got told that, while it's functional enough to have the car run, the main chip is slowly dying, as reflected in it's inability to adjust the gas-air ratio. I'd agree, it's been getting worse since the emissions failures first started.
I'm in Colorado. No one here knows what to do with this ECU. A few European "professional" mechanics initially looked at the vehicle and said the ECU was fine by the simply fact that the car would run. I took it to an electronics ECU expert, and they concluded the result listed above (it "works", but it's going to go out).
SO...anyone know someone that can fix Jag ECUs? Or maybe, just maybe, have a model DAC 6335 I may buy from them that's working? I don't mean to sound desperate here...but I am, indeed, desperate. I'm having to move in May, and Morris needs to be able to pass emissions. If it helps, I live in Denver, Colorado.
Thank you for any help.

To answer your question, AJ6 Engineering, Owned by Mr Roger Bywater, is the only place I know of that can fix the XJS ECUs.

Firstly in my 30 years of fixing electronics I have never had a CPU slowly dying. I would question the shops expertise with this diagnosis.
You can certainly have intermittent faults usually caused by bad solder joints on the PCB.
If I were you I would Buy a 16CU just make sure its not from a Marelli car. These are plug and play

Most likely culprits for slowly dying would I believe be thirty year old electrolytic capacitors in ecu.
As for $2000 for a new Lucas ecu for a Jaguar, I would say firstly that a crazy price, secondly there aren't any new ones around, possibly refurbished available, possibly unused but sitting on a shelf for thirty years, certainly not new.
Agree with Greg regarding UK source of refurbished or modified Lucas fuel injection ecu for Jaguar V12:

Thank you for the replies!
Not being an electronics expert myself, I'm pretty sure that I got an explanation that would make more sense to me, i.e., "your chip is slowly dying" instead of "your capacitors are starting to lose resistance" or something. He's seen these ECUs before, was pretty clear that it is no longer adjusting gas/air mixture, though is functional enough to make the vehicle go.
AJ Engineering! That's whose come up before! Thanks Greg!
I will try doing a search again to see if I come up with any new places to buy one as well.
Again, thank you all.

Try this :
https://www.atpelectronics.co.uk/
I bought there ECU for my XJS (Hess&Eisenhardt, DAC 4585).
Refurbished, price cca 300 GBP.
Working w/o problem, it looks as new.
