EFI pintel problems
My friend and I are in the process of refurbishing our fuel line hoses and EFI's. (I currently have an '86, '87 and '89. He has a '91 he is converting over to a 5 speed manual - he is a true life nuclear engineer so he enjoys the math) Not terribly complicated, just time consuming mostly due to the difficulty getting the old hoses off the barbs or cutting the collars on some of the pipe connections. Cleaned up fuel rail, new hoses and ferrules look terrific.
Here are the two unexpected issues.
1. Three of the pintel covers had to be replaced. Bought a replacement pack. Problem: They fit but about half way on they will not go any further. Do you have to use pliers to force them on?
2. Yesterday with the entire rig laying on the counter top I noticed the pintel pins have all retracted and are not extended the 1-2 mm beyond the pintel.
Tried turning it over to see if they would extend with gravity. Nope. Tried using a magnet to pull them out. Nope.
Will they extend once hooked back up to power?
Thoughts?
Thanks

See min. 11.08 in link below for attaching new pintel caps. Yes, a little pressure required.
Not sure about other potential issue with pins, although if cleaned and pressure tested probably okay?
Probably a good time to replace all pintel caps, seals and injector filters too I would think, even if they look okay
