Engine sump plug size - 6 cyl
Hi all,
Went to change the engine oil on my 1990 3.6, 6 cylinder XJS but realised I don't have a socket big enough so will have to purchase. Looks like about 30mm or is it imperial? Anyone know the size?
My first engine oil change - anything to watch for?
Thanks,
LeeP

My 93 4.0 is a 30mm, or at least that fits it lol. Mine was tight as crap the first time I changed it, and only being able to use a jack and stands, there wasn't a lot of room under there. The other annoying thing was the filter placement. It dumped oil on pretty much everything below it when I did mine

My 1996 is a 30mm.
The last time I changed my oil and filter, some rains came and delayed the process. I was able to drain the engine for maybe an hour, perhaps even longer. When I finally came back to pull the dreaded oil filter, I found it relatively empty! I did not unload any oil anywhere! (I did have a rag to catch the minimal amount of oil it released)
I am going to try that again next time I change the oil, perhaps it will be a much less messy event?
