Facelift Radiator Leak

Facelift Radiator Leak
Well, my radiator blew a leak. Wasn't bad enough to force a tow, but enough of an embarrassment after leaving a sizeable puddle at the garage where I was parked for the day.
I got the radiator out and I'll probably drop it off for repair/recore later this week. I had this originally done to this radiator at a now defunct shop a number of years ago.
Are there any "since you're there" opportunities I should take advantage of?

Just close this thread out, I went to a radiator shop today.
$750 to replace the core in the radiator. No additional charge to add a drain ****.
He showed me how the last guy that did it botched the job and that’s why I sprung a leak.
So it’s even money for the Wizard aluminum radiators and a recore…that’s where we’re at these days. (I paid about $425 for the recore about 7 years ago)

Vee,
I was wondering why your relatively recent core had sprung a leak. Sounds like you've found a more competent guy this time.
I would suggest changing the octopus bottom hose but I've only seen one pattern part offered for many years so I might be minded just to clean up the original and replace it.
Apart from the obvious checks of the condenser and general cleaning, I'd probably pull the lower rad mount x-panel and clean, paint and rust-proof it. I'd also redo the wiring on the horns and check the oil cooler hose connections (or have you previously removed and bypassed yours?). I'd also definitely get a drain **** fitted in whatever rad option you have, as draining the rad is a messy business through that bottom hose (It's why I syphon from the top hose down the right-hand tank).
Good luck with your rad choice
