So I have purchased this LHD XJS Convertible and I have a few items missing from my trunk. Such as the spare wheel cover, the battery and fuel pump covers etc. But my main query is if there exists a cover to hide the hydraulic roof pump sitting on the right side fender shelf. I was wondering if there is such a cover because I have not located any images or photos in my searches. Any input from you guys is a help indeed.
Thanks Doug, I really appreciate your help. Looking forward to seeing the photos. I will probably change the whole carpeting inside the trunk and get my upholsterer to do the extra piece.
The LH side is shown mostly in position, the RH side is shown out of position.
Both are warped. The RH one has the plastic cover for the main and fuel pump relay set
ProTip: I had to cover the trunk mounted battery, and some electronics in my non-stock 1961 Corvette trunk, about in the same spots these Jag covers go, so i made some cardboard templates, leaving enuf room for carpet wraparound on the edges and room to remove, and took it to local metal fab guy and had him make aluminum 16 ga pieces to match my cardboard, showing where to bend the angles, etc.
Covered them with carpet on outside and 1/16" thick rubber on the inside for electrical isolation.
They fit wonderfully, and are straight. Going to do the same for the Jag, at some point.
That looks quite neat. I might have to do something like that myself. I did come across a couple of photos of the original mould. Looked like some kind of hard foam material.
That Pic of your Battery where it says 34 in Big Letters, that 'Gizmo' just to the Right with the Two Brown Wires coming out of it, is 'The Fuseable Link'
If it gets disturbed while you're making and fitting those Covers (Sometimes just looking at it is enough!) then the Engine Won't Crank and it will seem like your Car just died in your Driveway
Same thing can happen, when you are Changing a Battery!
If so just push the Link Together and Jiggle the wires about and then with luck or even without it you Should be good to go
