Good fix.

My optic cables were broken in the middle, so removed the optic system all together and replaced then with strip LED's.

My fibre optics produce a pathetic glow, have you got some pics or a writeup of precisely what you did, please?

Hi Greg,

I didn't take photos unfortunately. What I did was to buy strip LED's like these.

12V Auto CAR Christmas Decor SMD 24 Leds Strip Light Blub Waterproof 60cm Long | eBay

I removed the AC control panel, dismantled it and drilled holes behind the icons so the light can shine through. The LED strip is self adhesive and is stuck behind the panel not to it.

They are wired to the dash light so they dim as well.

I have a bunch of broken fible-optic cables. Some we broken before, some broke when I was fixing gearshift linkage...

I was looking forward to somehow restore the whole fibre-optic setup, it was a surprise to find it and figure out what it is the first time I saw it. I was thinking to use fibre optic cables from one of those decorative nightstand 'bushes'.

if there are tiny LEDs that would fit onto holes where cables go - that would be my second choice.

Hope folks will chip-in with more solutions.

My f/o was really dim. I removed the old crappy bulb and fitted a led with a reflector to produce more focused light. I had to trim the housing a bit to fit the led. Worked great

If you're looking to retain the optical fiber system but upgrade or replace the light source I found there are many flashlights that provide nice reflector/led assembly. Combined with a 6v transformer provide a very bright source that's almost perfect for the FO cables.

Flashlight donor

Nice arrangement of bulbs

Pcb assembly

Through the original bill holder

Hi Greg,

While I have the console out I took pics of my LED mod behind the AC control panel. The strip LED's in the last pic are wired into the dash lights, there is another strip LED on the other side as well
