Finally Found My 1996 XJS
Hey guys it took me three years but I found it.
A 1996 Jaguar XJS one owner ( although before divorcing he put the car under his girl friend's name )
10444 original and certified miles by Jaguar .
I need to have it detailed (anyone you could recommend in Studio City or LA ? near 91602 )
Noticed few swirls and 2 scratches done by his kids bicycle
The car is completely original ,even has the original tires and yes the wheels are 16 IN not 15 .I was told it was a rare option.
What do you think of it?

Yes, those are the 16" version of the old Lattice wheels that date back to the late '80's (at least in the 15" version) and featured by Jaguar on the XJS for seven years until 1994. I wouldn't know what model year originally came with 16" Lattice wheels from the factory, but this is the very first time that I see a 1996 or 1995 XJS with retrofitted wheels back to the Lattice design. By 1996 the Lattice wheel design was already two generations old, as the '95 XJS came with those beautiful 16x7 five spoke aluminum alloys (the exception for '95 is the 20 spoke rim on the V12 car) and the '96 with the 16x7 eleven spoke (spoke?) aluminum alloys, the last of the XJS wheels.
Below is a picture of the 1995 stock Jaguar XJS rims (the red car) followed by the 1996 stock Jaguar XJS rims (the gold color car). These are the correct wheels for the 1995 and 1996 Jaguar XJS'. If your car is a 1996 XJS then the correct wheels would be the ones on the gold car:
BTW, I'm down in Redondo, not that far from the Valley...

Can somebody, please, tell me the denomination for the five spoke 1995 XJS wheels and the same for the 1996 eleven spoke (or how about eleven "square holes" LOL?) XJS wheels?

The '96 celebration 4.0L wheel was called the " aero wheel ". Hope this answers what you were asking and if not sorry in advance if I misunderstood.
It does appear that wheels that came on the '96 just purchased has the " lattice wheels " that were used on the XJS maybe in '93 or '94 model. Look nice on the '96 and is the first '96 I have seen with this wheel used.

To answer your question regarding the wheels, the Jaguar dealer who sold the car to the original owner assured me that these wheels came with the car as a rare dealer option According to him only 50 1996 XJS were equipped but those wheels
They are 16 I'm not 15
but who knows...

Lovely-looking car! Well done!
Just to clarify, all XJS from April 93 onwards were fitted with 16" wheels. The 15's were dropped from that point onwards.
The 16" lattice wheels that are on your car were a standard wheel, but not when your 1996 car (Celebration model) was built. The standard wheels then were the Aero wheel with a factory option of the chrome 5-spokes. Obviously those older lattice wheels were still available as spares and it seems that the dealer bought a set of four and fitted them to the car before it was delivered to the first customer. Even if you keep the wheels rather than fitting the correct items, you'll definitely want to change those tyres quickly.
He also probably fitted the leaper (see other threads for opinions on fitting a leaper to the car!) It's probably fitted into the mounting holes for the original bonnet badge, so you could remove and refit the badge if you wish. l

i guess i got reaped off on those wheels
was told they were very rare on an an 1996 XJS because they are 16 in
yes the tires are original so i ll change them and will look for a set of 1996 wheels
i like the leaper ...I know some of you don't but for me its part of the Jag " prestige "
I will keep it and will try to do more research on those wheels . I "hate "to get reaped off "

Does a Heritage Certificate show which wheels were installed at the factory? If so, that would be a good place to start.
The 16" Lattice Wheel was available that year, but I think it was on the XJ12 sedan but I don't know for sure. MMB6115AA is the Jaguar part number, so I imagine it could have been ordered with those.

If I am understanding your question on the wheels for the '95 and '96 XJS the official name for the '95 16 inch wheel like that shown on the red '95 photo you posted is actually " five spoke ". Most were machined finished with clear coat finish. A option wheel in '95 was the chrome " five spoke ". As you stated the V12 came with what is called the " 20 spoke alloy wheel ".
