Haha The gas cap actually has a nice expensive chrome look to it. Will likely keep it. The pictures don't really do it justice.
Also the paint job is custom. Car used to be red. Will probably not be worth the effort in trying to find out what color code the previous owner used just to replace a gas cap.

Most all electrical or electronic parts have a 1 year warranty, that is normal and any problems with the part will usually show up very quickly. Warranty is not a measure of quality it is a marketing tool. I would go for the OEM part every time where it is still available and price check different OEM suppliers.

Ended up going with the NAPA Echlin part which according to the NAPA rep is actually a Standard Motors Part but re packaged in NAPA boxes.
It was so cheap I got it with two day shipping for $150 total.
The OEM part was about $150 from two different suppliers but would have been much more with two day shipping.
If I knew that it's all marketing about the warranty might have been ok with the 12 month warranty on the OEM part.
Will keep that in mind for future electrical OEM part orders.

Hello everybody, I haven't posted much here. Not really new either.
I have a question ? Has anybody else had a problem with the radio not turning on,
after it has been stored for the winter? I did the usual punch in the security code &
nothing. The battery had been out of it for storage. I did trace a little bit of what it
might be. It is an "94 XJS . I am wondering about the inline fuse ? Any input is appreciated.

Went to check on the car the other day while it's being worked on and my mechanic had this baby up on the lift. A green two seat 1990 XJS. Nice little car.
According to him the car started smoking and the infamous Marelli distributor started melting. Pics attached.
He showed me the part he pulled.
I told him I eventually want to put a dual Ford EDIS system in my jag.
He said I'd need a new ECU as well and wiring harness. Is that accurate? How much do you think it will all run me.
I really want to avoid anything that will catch on fire although he did say that if you buy the Marelli distributor from overseas and not an aftermarket part that you won't really have to worry about it catching fire.
Anyway check out a few pics of my engine as well. Hasn't been touched in a year until now.
