Fixing Stripped Threads

So I finally made a little progress finding the cause of my rough idle. I found a loose bolt around the EGR Valve. Not sure what it went to, but I must have loosened it, and since it didn't help, I never tightened it back up.
Anyways, I also noted that one of the 5.5 screws at the IACV never tightened up. The threads in the throttle body hole are apparently bad. The screw looks like it's in good shape. I even had a spare screw from an older IACV and it fared no better.
The question is how do I fix it? I know helicoil (or similar) is the best repair, and I might do that. I was wondering if there was another way to do this. Can I tap the next larger hole in there, or will I have to drill out the threads I have in there now?
I was told that I can probably just use my 5mm tap since it's close enough and that would get me a new threaded hole I can finally lock the IACV into place with.
Any advice?
Thanks.

I prefer timeserts. They are way better that Helicoils but sometime a Helicoils is all that is locally available. ++ TIME-SERT Threaded inserts for stripped threads, threaded inserts, thread repair stripped sparkplug's, Ford sparkplug blowouts, threaded inserts threaded, repair stripped threads, stripped threads, inserts threaded inserts, Ford spark plug repair,
I wouldnt over size it, you'd have to drill it and go much larger to get it to work properly and last.
