Default Flywheel and Crank Position

I've read some stuff here but don't feel confident. Is the crankshaft and flywheel sensor the exact same part/sensor?

Jaguar classic parts has them both as the same part number.

A few weeks ago I related my story on how the REAR sensor can fail and the engine will still run (but poorly) and the FRONT sensor failure will shut the engine down.

They are interchangeable.

Hi Jay

There is one major difference between the Front Sensor and the Rear Sensor, that you need to be aware of

The Front Sensor has the Wire hanging Straight Down, while the Rear Sensor has the Wire coming out of the Side of the Sensor Head at an Angle so that the Wire can be pointed in the direction that it needs to go, without kinking

Apart from that to all intents and purposes they are exactly the same, except that the Front One (The one with the wire hanging straight down) can cost double the price of the rear one!
