Default fog light covers JLM1410

Hi all,

I'm new here. I have a (new to me) 1990 XJS and am looking for the black plastic growler fog light covers. (part # JLM1410). I was shocked to see them on eBay for $$$$. Any suggestions on where to get these ?

Thanks.

Mike

Mike,

As you've seen the original Jaguar covers go for huge money. I've seen people ask £290 per cover. (Which is why my spare pair is tucked up in the garage until someone wants to pay me £500 for the pair!)

However, the foglamps are based on Hella 155 units (although you'll still pay £500 for a pair of those complete with covers). But you might be able to find just a set of Hella 155 covers at reasonable money as an alternative for the Jaguar ones.

Hope that helps

Paul

Paul,

Thank you for the reply. Sadly, you are confirming what my internet search has provided that a) these are no longer made and b) the originals are very expensive. I'll keep my eyes open for a pair as I continue to search. I'll look for some Hella 155 covers. Ideally, I want the black growler covers.
Someone should reproduce these and make some $$.

Mike

BB,

let me know what you want for them. Much appreciated. I never realized this small part would be difficult to get.

It was a few years ago now but I got a new pair from this company for around £60, who listed a batch of them on eBay:

Might be worth enquiring with them as you never know, they might have some sitting on a shelf still?

I also found a set of brand new fog lights around the same time - still sat in a box in the garage although they are probably too good to fit to anything but a concourse car TBH. The chrome on the OEM fogs is very thin and easily pitted - The ones that came with my car are actually completely rusted through on the lower edge.

I was fortunate enough to find some Hella 155 covers for everyday use. They were ugly white with black letters, so I just painted them black and glued some cheap leaping jaguars on. They have gotten some chips now, but they look ok from a distance. I keep my originals for special occasions.
