Front lower wishbone bushes - installation method
I have some genuine Metalastic lower wishbone bushes i'm in the process of installing.
Does anyone have any tips on installing them?
I'm using a 3-prong bearing puller to push them home. I lubricated the bushes/holes with soapy water but they don't feel like they are going in smoothly/straight - the edges are rolling over themselves a bit on the inside.
It's also very hard to tell when they are fully inserted/centred as the rubber bulges over the inner metal sleeve so much - how critical is this - if they look roughly right is that good enough?
I have some red rubber-safe grease - would it be ok to use this during assembly?

Make sure that the hexagonal end of the pin (the other end of the pin from the nut-end), is properly attached to the pin. I have had aftermarket ones fail, so a precautionary weld to the hex end, which can just be a press and peen fit, is a good plan.

Thanks Greg - I used red rubber grease & they went in nicely.
& interesting finding about the hexagonal pin end - I did notice the ones I bought in replacement were different to the ones removed from the car.
My replacements have yellow zinc passivated shafts, & the hex end is a silver nut, held to the shaft with what looks like a separate allen head fixing.
