Fuel Cap Key

The alarm/keyless was an option in some counties and standard in others.
I bought and fitted the complete jaguar kit to mine when it was available from dealers. Most of the wiring is already there. It seems that getting the 418 MHz remotes for the first series of systems is near to impossible . . .

1994 XJS Gas cap key
I found a local locksmith who had a blank that worked. The ILCO blank number is X86 FC7. He had to recut it a second time to make it work, so I would take the car to the locksmith to test that the new key works. He made the comment that he had 10 blanks of that number, and had never made a key with them. I do not know if ILCO still makes them or not, but I can attest that this blank number works. I know this is an old thread, but I thought I would post in case it helps someone out in the future.

I'm having a go at the gas cap key as well. My car is a '95 that uses the flat key, which is separate from the doors etc.
I've had the barrel redone so that the key I have fits.
Now how do I actually get the barrel back in the lock hole??
Do I leave the key in the barrel and insert it as a set? How is it orientated?
Thanks, Steve
