Fuel Injector Cleaner... every time I fill the tank!
The car is not a daily user, get used every couple of weeks, I usually run the tank down to a quarter and fill it up, add half a bottle of injector cleaner every time.
Anyone see an issue here?

Depends on the brand.
Chevron Techron is KING of injector cleaners, thought it is rarely seen outside north america, costs about $4.50usd and will clog your filters it works so well.
I usually mix in a lubricant to quiet the pump, lucas injector lubricant along with a preferred cleaner is ideal - but the product you use must contain PEA or it's flushing money down the drain.
I've started using this company's product in both oil & fuel

So far I've gained 2mpg over my usual winter averages which suck due to warming the car up all the time in 0c weather.

I'm a strong believer in the various modern fuel and oil additives that are available.
I've tried many, and quite like some of the stuff available from Archoil. I've recently been using some Archoil products in my diesel Merc C200
.
If you've already been using some good quality fuel system cleanser in the XJS, maybe move to just using a fuel conditioner such as Archoil AR6900-P Max? I'm sure there's other similar products available.
I don't know who are the Archoil distributors in NZ, but they seem to have distribution worldwide.

Same as mine have all had for 52 years.
When I remember, HAHA, I put the full bottle with 1/2 tank, and go for a blast, there is a noticed difference, and its not in my head.
