Fuel Pump

Fuel Pump
If you don't hear the fuel pump making any noise, does that necessarily mean that it does not work? For example, if I have the ignition in the 1st, 2nd and even 3rd spot, I can't hear any noise, when turning the ignition to start the engine, I can't hear the fuel pump either, but I can't hear anything since the engine is trying to turn over.
Sorry for the weird questions, I'm new to all of this.
Thanks

When you turn the igntion "on" the pump should run for 2-3 seconds and then shut off.
It will also run when the starter is engaged and when the ECU sees a trigger signal from the ignition amplifier.
You might have to open the trunk to hear it while a helper works the igntion key
