Default G'day...wow haven't been here in ages.

G'day guys. How has everyone been? Seems like I haven't been in the XJS section for ages. Been super busy and trekking around the globe with work. Spotted a real lovely XJS and a few other Jags in New Orleans just recently. I like to do a bit of kitty spotting when I travel

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/a...rleans-182881/

Well the Blue Goose has been sitting stagnant for a while whilst I have been busy. Driven her for 15 mins around the block just to blow out the cobwebs before I had to go back to work a few days ago!

Hope to get time to scan through the XJS section in the next few weeks and see what everybody has been up to with their XJS adventures.

Hi Bro!

Or should I say 'Your Regional Coordinatorship'

Where have you been hiding!

'Cherry Blossom' is all finished now after a number of problems encountered along the way and is already for her MOT.

But the Weather is Crapola at the moment, so I'm waiting for some Sunshine before I take her over.

Gosh . . . enthusiasm from you chaps is so infectious. Putting huge pressure on me putting aside my plastering & painting of new house extensions to get started on stripping out interior of "Flintstones" XJ-S and weld in new floors.

Engine now running on 12 cylinders, but rather harsh on the ears . . . not ready to fit exhaust until new floors are in. Have finished AutoCAD file of new XKR style snout . . . also boot fins to support DRS style wing at rear . . . and taking lots of pics. The XJ-Spyder write-up will emerge eventually.

Great to see you both on deck. So glad to see that oil magnates are keeping Blue Goose afloat Paul . . . and huge congrats to OB for his detailed thread of great achievement. If Greg (mais oui) and the Wiz of Oz chime in, my pantheon of the V12 XJ-S gods will be complete and I'll be forced to stop procrastinating by working on lesser XJ6 and XJ40 beasts.

Cheers,

Ken

Bloody tourist.

Ya missed the XJR I picked up in Sydney and drove home, better than a V12, ALMOST.

Earn them $$$ mate, the Goose will swallow them when you get back, its called "pay back".

Hi Cat_as_trophy

Cheers!

But it's been a long haul, the Tax disc on the Windscreen is from the year 2000!

the last time 'Cherry Blossom' was ever on the road.

With a mileage of just under 25,000 Miles and so apart from everything that I have either had to fix or replace, She's virtually a New Car.

With only one previous owner who didn't keep her long.

She's all done and dusted now and just needs to be taken for an MOT which is making me nervous, as the last time my nerves were shredded.

When I was the passenger where the Brakes were being Tested with a 'Tapley Meter' which I thought was about to fly into the Dashboard.

Apart from that the biggest danger is having a Stranger drive my Car, who isn't used to the power of the V12 together with its 'Slingshot

Acceleration'

That can take you by Surprise if you're not ready for it.

Which means that if the Tester were to have an Accident, my Agreed Valuation Insurance would go right out the Window, as that only applies

when I'M driving the Car!

Big Shout out to 'Greg' and 'Grant' without who's help I would never have been able to fix it on my own and that goes for my Grey XJS as well.

Plus all the other help and advice that I have had from many other members.

G'day fellas.

Get into it Ken! You got any latest pics mate?

Grant you did what? Bought an XJR? Mate you truly and always will be intertwined with Jaguars......or do they somehow manage to find their own way to the Wizard of Oz to be blessed with the magic wand? I am sure you will give it the famous WoOz make over.

Good to hear you guys are doing well!

Now that I am back at work I have more time to get on the forums (working at nights hiding from the boss). Unfortunately when I am home and the Blue Goose is within arms reach...I have minimal time for the forum....what a twisted world we live in!

Paul,

Maaaaaate.

Trevor bought it, no idea, dont go there.

Sent Yollie and I to Sydney, "and if its as good as it sounds, buy it, and drive it home".

So we did.

It is at home now and getting the "wand waved" and then into storage, and the XJ6 goes up for sale, never a dull moment with him around.

Still tempted Paul, they are THAT good.

The sill hump is still a major PAIN for me to get in and out, soooooooo, dunno.

The X350 has no hump, but I am not that keen on them.

Nah, Paul . . . XJ-S pics beyond those in album are being taken at each part of strip out, but I will start a "resto" thread like OB, Greg and others. First posts will detail/show strip down, pull engine/trans, de-trim interior. Next will follow with cutting out and welding in new floors. Plenty of pics rather than masses of words. Want to have plenty "in the bag" to keep feeding thread while some work drags (inevitable).

Hahahaha . . . and I thought I was the only stiff old bugga whose legs were getting longer and arms shorter. Laugh myself silly remembering the effort to get in and out of the FHC E-Type. Now I watch daughter Megs slingshot her bum into the XK8 and wonder how she does it. Technique looks similar to swinging up into cockpit floor of WW2 bomber!

So, I got my tape measure . . . 250mm from garage floor to sill, then 400mm from sill to roof. It's true, honest! I measured twice! Door opening is roughly 2m long . . . that's no problem . . . but that 400mm (16") high opening is built for horizontal high jumpers, or agile young women!

Standing outside in launch position after I checked I had my Chiropractor's business card, I found a great bonus for the driver's side mirror . . . it's ideally positioned half way up driver's window to check upwards that I have my trousers fly done up . . . can't be too careful when you hit your 70s. Just gotta be careful you don't bump yer knees against roof!

Keeps you young, eh?

Ken

Life's just not fair, I have loads of time but have traded that for less money to spend on my XJS, Oh well it'll just take me a little longer.

Get in a drive that XJS.

Hey Paul,

Good to hear from you, sounds like you have little time so you better get the cat out for some running exercise. Finally got mine back on the road after about threes years of work under the hood/bonnet' feels good to give ot some much needed work out.

Have a good one,

Yeah, I'm into the mount and dismount issue. Not as flexible as I once was. Once, stick the right leg in and rotate to get the right limb aboard. LHD XJ wuzza 6.

Now, it is place butt in the seat and rotate both limbs in.

WTH, it works and I get aboard.

Same technique to mount the Jeep. Just a tad easier, because of the increased height.

But, my little aging Coco, can no longer do the Jeep jump. And he is too "well fed for me to boost him in. Doesn't go for the boost anyway...

So, he rides shotgun in the Jaguar. But, signs of mounting problems beginning...

Oh, he and the Jaguar were admired by a pretty youngish lady. Not me, however...

I've been up to breaking my evaporator.

I'll just replace some busted hoses, I thought. Would be nice to have AC, I thought. Never can be that simple...
