Getting shifty with an XJS....
Hello all, this is Andrew from Jaguar Specialties
Upfront clarification- I am posting this purely as a technical topic, hopefully interesting to XJS enthusiasts in general, and not as a commercial solicitation of any sort. As a sponsor of the XJS forum I understand the difference.....
Historically Jaguar conversions have been 99.5% automatic transmission equipped. But lately, more and more of our customers are looking to shift themselves, and in most cases they are looking to the GM LS engines with matching T56 (6 speed manual) transmissions. Our kits have always supported manual transmissions but getting the correct pedal box was up to the customer. There were a few providers out there for these parts, but with our knowledge, I recently wondered why not become a supplier as well. Anyone going manual trans on their GM conversion, or even manual trans behind a Jag engine, could use these.....
So over the last few months, we have tooled up to manufacture drop-in, ready-to-roll, manual trans pedal boxes for XJS cars (76-94) and we'll be up to speed on the XJ6 versions (70-87) shortly. (Note- we already offered manual trans pedal boxes for 98-03 XJ8 and 97-02 XK8 models, so these just add to the line)
The first few sets of XJS units are now done and came out very well. The all utilize a fully aluminum welded pedal casting (not bolted together), new clutch pedal, revised brake pedal, and a new Wilwood compact master cylinder. These are very similar to the factory parts (long out of production), and mount to the cars with no modifications or adjustments needed. A standard brake booster (76-88 cars) or brake actuator (89-94 models) bolts right on and they drop right into the car. One important note- the clutch pedals on these units have the correct shape so no cutting of the inner dash structure is required (unlike some of the other "retrofit" units out there). Do you recognize the OE Jaguar style pedal pads there???
I've attached some pics below for you have a look, including showing the units installed in an actual XJS car, as well as how the pedals fall in the footwell. The Wilwood master cylinder is nice as it uses a remote reservoir which can be placed conveniently nearby. Due to the standard mounting pattern, even smaller (overall size, not bore) master cylinders like those from Tilton could be used as well. If you have any questions, let me know.
Thanks
Andrew

Manual pedal boxes
So to answer a couple of questions:
XJS units- these sell for $695 exchange (customer to trade in his original automatic pedal box)
X300- We have these available as well- they are $525 exchange
Let me know if there are other questions
Thanks

If I got you this This could you fit a modern automatic transmission to my car? I don't see why it wouldn't be possible with a custom made adapter, mounts etc.

Clarification....
I'm not sure I understand the question correctly, but if you are asking if these pieces would be of any help swapping in a modern automatic behind the V12, the answer is no. These pedal sets are just for manual transmission installations, whether it be behind a V12 or a V8 conversion.
This post is about pedals only
Did I misunderstand your question???

X300 Pedal Box
Actually, there is virtually nothing on our website for the 95-97 (X300) cars because there is virtually no call for conversions on them- they're too reliable.
That's not to say we don't have a manual pedal box for them, and if that's what you want, we can help, You would get a ready to drop in 3 pedal unit, set up for a hydraulic clutch master. AS far as shifter, that's part of the transmission you would be using, whatever that is... It is neither an XJ40 nor X308 pedal box (completely different and non-compatible with the X300)
I hope that helps
Thanks

Andrew, I looked (and bookmarked) your site but didn't see a link for the X300 XJR 1995-7. I don't know if it would use the same pedal box as the XJ40 or X308, however my question is, would I have to find my own clutch pedal, shifter etc or do you have those bits?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Ya great thanks Andrew! Prolly put in a Getrag 290 or variant if I can find one. The conversion idea is new but I'm keen and have the time etc. and would appreciate your help. I'm not at all fan of the 4-speed autobox that's in it. It doesn't change quickly enough when you shift manually.
