Default glitzy or ghastly ??

I just bought a 96 XJS. It's a beige exterior with a beige interior. It's a lot of beige. I want to jazz it up with a flat black hood stripe. I had my buddy photoshop one on. I think it looks glitzy while my wife thinks it looks ghastly.
We may be able to reach a compromise and have it done in a wrap so if it looks terrible I can just peel it off. What do you think ?? Other suggestions ??

I tried googling [luxury car type] racing stripe... After reviewing many audi's and amg's porsche etc even F types I just can't see it on an XJS not on beige anyway.

Even the TWR white on green is only do-able with full racing livery.

One I do like is this:
R8 matte stripe

Maaaybe a similar stripe on one side? I dont know. I'd be curious to see a similar matte black paint or wrap job on an XJS though.

Problem is, the line would need to carry on in the rear. But then the entire decklid would be matt black. So that results on nasty looks.

Leave it factory or wrap the whole car

Hmmm... You’ve got me thinking.

What about flames coming back from the grill opening?

Yikes - Stripes!

Unlike the majority I like stripes. Here's my take. Always remember it's your car and what you like is the most important thing.

THAT would be authentic! Possibly with a smoke generator under the bonnet/hood!?

Oh, oh. that tasteful vs tasteless thing!!

I kinda like the concept. Pete's version a tad better.
But, Daim's matt black and at the boot as well is attractive.

I've this "vision" of older Camaro's being so emblazoned.

If you want stripes, certainly no black. Do not adjust at beige. Better Middle brown stripes. Maybe make a two tone car?

You don't need to fit a smoke generator, you have Lucas wiring!

I listen to my wife...sometimes, just because it's good for me...at other times because she's right.

Your wife is right.

Rather than the racing stripe you show, I would go for some understated pin striping on the sides ( a couple of shades darker than the beige) rather than large dark paint or anything on the bonnet/hood. The long nose really makes the car what it is and to mess with it will, well, think about the wart or pimple on somebody's nose that you are not supposed to look at or say anything about.

Mac, it's not bad masking, it's photoshopped.
Not keen either.
