got the interior done on the Jag
After about 9 months I finally got the interior done and installed this past Saturday. besides the interior I replaced the rubber seals on the front and back glass, and installed all LED lighting inside. Only thing, I took it out for a drive on Saturday, drove fine around this little town I live in, had it out for about 1.5 to 2 hrs. all fine, decided to treat my nephew to be the first to ride in it since the redo to make him feel good (he had heart surgery this yr, but doing fine) went out on one of the highways, did great, got it up to about 80 to 100, opps did I do that!?LOL, then on to another highway, slowed up going thru one town, got out of it, got back up to 60 then, oh crap,(not exactly what I said) RPMS and speed dropped. I was, now what, loss of power then shut down, did manage to get off the road. called the roadside asst, they send a truck, the car started after about 20 to 40 min. rain fine got home, pulled in front of garage, shut off. would not start again to get into the garage until it sat for another 30 or so minutes. The Jag ran great all last yr, I even made sure I stored it properly, and while in the garage started it up once in a while.
Any ideas on what it could be, my first thoughts are possible sludge in tank( guy I bought from had it sitting for sometime) but it did great last yr. so I am thinking maybe some crude on connections or am hoping.
Pictures are posted in my pic area, enjoy them for me it was a well worth and rewarding project.

The 'could be' list is long!
What year and engine?
If it's an HE V12 with Lucas ignition I'd be suspicious of the ignition module. They typically fail when hot and then work again after a cool-down period. GM part # 10482820 or AC Delco D1906, about $50
Ignition coils often fail in the same manner.

Dirt/rust in the small sump tank is common...worth checking and cleaning on general principles even if it doesn't solve your problem.

JagZilla, my '84 with Lucas ignition, did that same thing several years ago. It was extremely frustrating, and the car left me stranded more than once in some very unsafe situations. I used to joke that I had pushed the car twice as far as I had ever driven it.
I first replaced the ignition module, then the fuel filter, and cleaned the surge/sump tank (nasty little things), then replaced/repaired/cleaned several other things in my quest to narrow down what it might be. None of those things worked, and the costs were quickly adding up.
It turned out to be that the ECU had gone bad, which is common with the 6CU ECUs. I replaced it with a 16CU from a later model (purchased used from Coventry West in Atlanta), and I never had that problem again. Found the solution in the FUEL PUMP section (page 253) of Kirby's book.

Thanks for all the info, mine is also a 84, and most things you listed is also what I thought, I was going to start at the fuel tank, sump and so fourth. Will be changing fuel filter(planned item to do as with cleaning the sump and changing the screen filter in that, I deffinatly will pick up a ECU, even if not needed it would be good to have an extra anyhow,
thanks for the tips,

Thanks for the info, Everyone has been a great help. and to think I worked on a couple of Jags back when I was in trade school, only I went in the service afterwards and got a bit out of the car scene for sometime, after a few car shows with my son the spark ignited again

daverb...am I to understand you did all this interior work yourself??? Somehow, that seems more daunting to me than working on the engine. I wouldn't even know how to start.
Just wondering (since you have some insight into interiors I suspect) what it would cost, roughly, to have an interior redone in this fashion? Yours looks great.
Thanks,
John

Besides the white ones, I also replaced the dash, and console lights with LEDs,
