i hate bragging, but here is some of MY work on turbo cars!
1985 toyota supra done around 1990-91.
pic of modded turbo, notice the welded inlet whistler, ported compressor,
MAN would that thing whistle only when on the boost tho, it let everyone know
you are present and accounted for.
pic of that turb mounted on Mazda rotary, fitting to flat mount intercooler with blowoff valve, scoop under car forced air upwards exicting out thru a large vent in hood(actually helped downforce on front end).
car wheel dynod at 510whp with W/M inj. car weight 2650lbs, a nice street rice rocket.
the Skyline came into shop for some minor tuning work, car was built in Japan,
finally dynod 720whp, YES it was rediculas, took it for a ride, was a little to harsh for my liking, clutch was in or out, nothing in between, but all wheel drive, launch was breath taking.
anyway most of this stuff was back 1998-2007, then i retired and moved to Austin TX, now we got the best roadracing track in the world,COTA, circuit of the americas, i lived in Daytona for 30yrs, and luck has it now Austin!

that mazda RX7 turbo was 1.3L ,made 510whp, i wish piston engines were as effiecent!
turbocharging can be done to almost any internal combustion engine.
i'm sure a Jag AJ16 would be a good choice(i'v been told they are more robust than the A16), and that is the only thing that limits a turbo engine is the integrity(strength) of the engine.
you build a turbo system, when finally running, then start to push pressures higher, always monitoring areas that could become troublsome, 75% will be head sealing(blown head gaskets)ETC.
the copper head gasket thing is really for race engines, that can be topped up with a coolant, periodicly.
my experience for a street engine is they always seem to leak in the garage over night, small but annoying wet spots on the floor.
and somtimes when least expected, low coolant and over heat, most engines i know of dont like being overheated!
there are so many on this site that have not actually done the things they speak about.
theories, speculations, things they read, and other peoples comments, no HANDS on reality!
that is why the comment ,internet racers! and with the internet today, its an endless amount of knowledge, so much, its hard to seperate fact and fiction,or what will work for your project and what is useless BS.
but,YES i realize they need some place to start, everyone does!
