H&E convertible rear 1/4 window operation question
Did I knock a connector loose removing the rear partition so i could get to the gas tank, or do the rear 1/4 windows not go down unless the front windows are down?
The front windows work, but are up, the rear widows won't operate, and I don't want to go experimenting with wiring with the gas tank open, so i have all electrical disconnected right now.
the rear windows worked a few weeks ago, but that was with the door windows down.
I don't want to put everything back together and find out i need to take it apart again if the rear windows don't work in any situation.
Thanks,
Doug

On my H&E there are 4 switches on the center console. Each window operate independently of each other. The rear windows do not depend on the position of the front windows to go up or down. Whether that is the way they were originally configured to work, I don't know. I will check my H&E manual and get back to you.
I read somewhere that the window switch power was routed through a switch on the emergency brake, and it could be bypassed. Whether that applies to the H&E I am not sure.
The window switches need servicing at some point in time. When I got my car they were not working. I sprayed some electrical cleaner fluid and massaged the switches rocking them on and off a few times and they started to work. Check and clean the switch connectors also. On these cars you will eventually end up cleaning all the electrical connectors. It is one of the weaknesses on the Jaguar.
