Default headlight wipers

Hi all.
Does anyone have any photos of the headlight wiper motors in the car. Also the circuit diagrams ?
Thanks Malc

Malc,

Is it for your car? They aren't fitted on facelift cars.

Yup, I picked up a system as l was collecting parts for the headlight leveling kit. Although the wiring is there for that, its not for the wipers.

Glutton for punishment.

Malc,

I've never seen headlight wipers listed in the parts catalogues for facelift XJSs. Are you sure the parts you've got are not for a pre-facelift vehicle?

Yes, They are for the older model Paul. But at least on my very early facelift ,the fixing holes etc, except the harness, are there. I'm still going to use the original washer, just adding the wipers. But looking in all of the electrical diagrams none show the wiring connections. I have the harness, just need to know how to adapt it

I just love the look of those wipers.

The headlight wipers only come on when
  1. the headlights care on and
  2. the windscreen washers are activated. There is a separate headlight washer pump which is only activated when the headlights are on. Do you have this diagram which is pretty clear:

Thanks Greg. It looks almost correct for the earlier system with 3 wires. Mine (1991 ish, has 4 wires to the wiper. But a great start lo begin with.
Anyone have a photo 0f the motor from inside the light opening ?

You can just see it in this grainy photo. It is at the inboard side of the opening; parly sticking though a square hole, with the drive and static rods poking forward as close the the inner edge as possible. The longer side of the motor is pointing outboard. I took them off my car when I changed to dual light units as LHD single ones are unavailable.

Yeah Greg, l know, I traded my LHD headlights for the quads just after l bought the car in '93. I wont tell you how much l had to pay to get another set last month. It seems that LHD glass headlights are very rare and good ones even rarer.

As you can see from the above photo the later motor circuit is slightly different. I just need the wipers to work, not the water.

Id like to know the wiring as well.

i deleted my wipers, would like the remove the wiring but I dont dare to start pulling things out until I know what is what.

i can see everything running along the radiator support but as the headlights washer system and the windshield washers are linked, disnt want to mess anything up.

As you can see from my photo above, the whole system has various plus. The wipers have plugs near the top of the radiator and the harness from wiper to the other wiper. it also has plugs for the other components. It would seem easy just to unplug those and remove the harness. The washer parts go to another pump on the washer bottle,. would seem to be easy to plug the pipes with a bolt or similar. You will not have any headlight wash system after doing that. PLEASE take so photos of the plugs and where they go for me.

Thanks
