Heater water valve. 1996 4.0
I have been having AC problems in that the air is very cold when I first start the car and leave home. After stopping at a store and then starting the car the AC is not nearly as cold. The difference in dash temperature is 43 degrees and then about 55 degrees.
Investigating the problem, I found that the water valve was not cutting the water off from entering the heater. Removing the valve I discovered the valve was broken inside. The vacuum pot was pulling the valve to the open position and looked okay but was leaving the valve open.
My reason for posting this is to possibly give any of you with a similar problem with your AC something to consider.
