Help! Car turns over, runs, and stalls
#21
A bad fuel pump will not throw a code.
It does sound like it could be the culprit. In my experience, I find that when the fuel pump begins to fail, it doesn't do it all at one time.
I had periods where the car would turn over and then stall. Then it would start right back up again. It would happen randomly, then occasionally before it quit. It never got to the point where it was commonly happening.
If you have a day to give, you should be able to do it by yourself, assuming your tank is almost empty. If you have a lot of fuel in the tank, you will need some help to lower that bad boy down.
Make sure you have jackstands and probably two jacks, just to be safe. You'll need the jacks to lower and raise your fuel tank.

I did some checking. I think the rely is good and the fuel pump is bad. the pump will work for a second then looses preasure one time. Then it does not work after that. I press the gas and it just dies after that one time. then no go.
Anyway, I am going to change the fuel pump. Sounds like fun.
I hear it takes 4 hour? I hope that is total and not just to get the tank out...
Any advice would be welcome on the Fuel Pump and Tank Removal on a 93 xjs 4.0 coupe. Tricks and stuff.
thanks
