Help with my 88 XJS!! Fuse #11 blows instantly
Ok, so Ive been having issues with the coolant fan not turning on... traced it down to what I believe is the red relay as I could get the fan to run by jumping it. In the last couple weeks all the sudden the blower motor in the car stopped working. I believe only one worked when I got it. Putting 12v to the blower I can get the motor to spin. I replaced the relay in the fan and lubed it up. So I got two issues going. Now, whenever I turning the ignition on the #11 fuse lhd side blows instantly. Whether there is a relay in the Lucas red position or not it blows. I looked above the fuse box and replaced the ignition protection relay... well I think it was the right one. Still blows a fuse instantly. So with the #11 fuse blown Im getting no blower motor or aux cooling fan. What would be making this fuse blow? Also, I believe the first fuse in the engine compartment is blowing because of a generic relay or no relay in. Also, I got a generic 5 pin relay for the cooling fan but from what Ive read, the red cooling fan relay is different than most? Does the car need that relay in whether its good or bad to stop the fuse from blowing? Could the little voltage regulator connected to the fuse box be bad? Im bad with electrics but I sure am trying!

I would disconnect any components the the #11 fuse feeds on that LG wire.
Now install a new fuse.
The fuse still blows you probably have a shorted wire, a "dead short to ground". It might take a lot of looking to find that fault.
If the fuse does not blow then reconnect the components one-by-one. When the fuse blows, you'll know which branch of the circuit (or which component) to focus on
Cheers

Alright so I pulled the light green wires off the diode pack and turned the key... the 15a fuse in the under hood black panel blew which is the horn fuse. So I pulled that fuse and now my #11 doesnt blow and my blower motor works again! So Im on the right track. Obviously a short in the horn circuit somewhere but I still am unable to get my aux fan to work and I get no power at the relay
