Default Home Made Power Steering/ATF Top Up Dispenser XJS V12

Not exactly ground breaking but it certainly does the Job! Especially on an XJS V12 where the Power Steering Filler is tucked right out of the way and is awkward to get to.

The Top up bottles you buy in the shops, usually have a 6in Tube which is sticking out of the end, which means you have to hold the bottle with one hand and then put the finger of your other hand over the end of the tube.

Then turn the bottle upside down and take your finger away to let it pour in, the only problem being, that as you are using both of your hands, this obscures your vision so you can't see what you are doing.

This can mean that you get ATF going all over the place, so I made up this very simple device.

Which is a Shower Gel Bottle, (Thoroughly cleaned out and dried) that has a pump on the Top.

So all I did was to attach a piece of rubber tubing to the spout! and then once having done so, fill it up with ATF.

Which means that once the Tube is in, You can Hold it as well as Pump it with one hand! (don't even go there!)

As an added bonus, you can Twist and Lock the pump down and I also added a plug to prevent any leaks, in case you want to 'Stow' it in the Car.

Comments Welcome

Clever.
Did you "borrow" that gel dispenser from your GF while she wasn't looking?

Bill

Hi Bill

Not You as well (lol)

I've already had an ear bashing for 'borrowing' the GF's Nail Varnish Remover!

(P.S.) We went out for a drink tonight, at a Country Pub that does Bar Meals, with the Top Down, 'That's the Car! Not the Pub or the GF and on the way there, this Bumble Bee (Which according to Her was a 'Killer Bee!' She had read about in the papers), landed on one of Her legs and flew up Her Skirt!

At which point She had a panic attack! which is not exactly Convenient, when your Zooming down a dual carriageway, with no where to pull over at 70 mph and I only just managed to stop her from opening the door!, which was even more scarey than when I had a Stuck Caliper!

Hi rgp

Many Thanks, I've been well and truly bitten by the XJS Jag bug and have totally fallen in love with the Car after an 8 year layup.

Please have a look at my other post. 'Should I give my girlfriend the boot' as I have tried to follow the advice I have been given by other members, to rid my Boot/Trunk of all the junk I was carrying around.
