If it introduces air into the engine bay l would not fit it to an xjs. Turn it around so it extracts would be positive but the last thing you need is anything that would reduce airflow from front to back through engine bay.

The reason its called a "shaker" is because the scoop mounts directly to the engine and protrudes through the hood/bonnet. When the engine shakes so does the scoop. A properly running V12 has no shake.
Given the very limited amount of space between the engine and the hood I cant imagine how you would mount the scoop to the engine. Also, it would be very difficult to route incoming air to the air boxes.
It will take a lot of work to mount properly and any performance or cooling improvement would be very limited.

I can't see the advantage of a shaker scoop on a V12. Those work with a center mounted carb on v8 or v6.
I'm thinking about installing my Trans Am shaker scoop on my XJS but I have a SBC and a spare hood. So if it looks bad I can change. I would like the hood with the lump (6 cly hood I think) as I could run a bigger aircleaner if the scoop doesn't work out. I'll keep my flat hood for when I want an original look.

Universal stuff is just that, universal. So I would think it could be made to fit if you wanted. Why put a scoop on it, though? I think it would kill the lines, and the car looks great without it. Heat extractors are one thing, but all the ones that I've seen done on here are actually functional and serve to remove heat. Since the intakes of the xjs are on the side you wouldn't really benefit from a center mounted hood scoop, even if it was made to be functional. I personally feel the same way about those fake fender vents. They're only cool if they serve a purpose.

At risk of sounding like an a$$ (too late, I know) some are just not happy till it looks like J.C Whitney threw up on their car. Too each his own as they say. But the thought of any of this stuff on a Jaguar just makes me cringe. I'll see my way out the door on this thread as IMHO nothing good is going to come from it. Keep it classy guys, Sir William Lyons tried too.

I can't imagine a hood scoop on a xjs either, but that is what makes our cars OUR cars. To each his own. With that said, I am putting a whipple supercharger on a 6.0 and a 5 speed in my 89. We are mounting the SC all the way to the rear, and will install a long shaft in the valley (under the black 6.0 cover) to drive it. This is a effort to keep from modifying the hood. Yet, I am feeling I will have to, and if so, am hoping to do a very small cowl induction type modification that will blend a little over the WW grill. I just wish I knew someone who could play with photo editing, or even draw like Chip Foose does to give it a look.

There was a guy on the UK site who made a proper from the engine bay out through the wing/fender vent like the modern Jags. Looked the part but not sure how that ended up though.

The installation of a fake scoop is a waste of time and money in my opinion. The car doesn't really need it to increase looks but a functional hood scoop to bring fresh air in to engine is priceless. With the heat generated under the hood I can't see the disadvantage of a functional scoop.

Any fresh air entering the engine bay other than through the radiator is a BAD thing for an xjs. The importance of the foam sealing around the radiator shows that. Sufficient air cannot flow through the radiator if it can't get out of the engine bay. Turn the scoop around to extract and it would help big time.
If you want cold air into the intakes, then in my view ducting it in from the front is a far better way to get it into the intakes.

Not knowing Revski's original motive (I.e.looks or functionality), I'd say that in respect to functionalty hood scoops come from -and were more popular-back in the pre-fuel injection time, when carburators were the standard, and being typically located towards the center of the engine, the hood scoop was the perfect match when it was installed in a way that the closed hood creates a seal between the scoop and the carb rim, so ram air goes straight in to the throttle and not allowing any of that air to escape into the engine bay. This would be quite a task to achieve on a V12 XJS, but probably not as difficult on my AJ6 XJS.
Looks? Well, in our heads hood scoop cars are a symbol of American muscle, of power, of burned rubber, of which the Jaguar brand/concept is just about the opposite, or at least the cars in this forum for certain are. In fact, I see BMW owners/enthusiasts far more inclined to performance improvements than Jag owners, let alone XJS owners. But still, and for the looks alone, I think the XJS looks better without a scoop, simply because it attempts to change its image into something that it is not.
