Greetings,
The pragmatic answer to that question is that Jaguar likely didn't think so, or found out the hard way of a shortcoming. The 4HP24 was used in all XJ40 and normally aspirated X300 as well as your car, with what I would consider to be exceptional reliability. The '95 to '97 XJR 6 cyl was fitted with a different transmission, the designation for which I would have to research. So I assume that the increased HP was the reason for the transmission change.
Swapping out the powertrain and electronics from one of those cars would get you there quicker, and get you there quicker.

Different transmission adapter plate at the rear of the block, added spacer for flexplate, different flexplate and cooler pipes, different TCM , different harness, probably more that I didn't look any further for. I'll stick with my first answer, find an XJR and swap it all out. You'd likely have to fab your own driveshaft and intercooler.
The trans wouldn't be hard to source by itself, and XJ12 used the same one too: everything else would be pure luck to find individually, and I suspect that alot of new items are NLS. Pistons for XJR have been on intergalactic backorder for years.

I hate to squash anyone's enthusiasm and "can do" spirit but if you want less of a headache then the idea of going out and simply buying a car that gives you the level of performance you want is at least worth considering.....isn't it?
Nice XJRs can be bought for peanuts :-)

Well, Benito, that's up to you. I was just trying to answer your question. I think I'd go Doug's route, I own a '97R waiting for an engine that I'm dying to drive. There is a website somewhere of a guy who has installed the drivetrain in an E Type, and that would be a bigger feat.
Did you receive the quad headlamp assemblies yet?

No I haven't recieved the headlamp assemblies yet, last I checked they were somewhere between ohio and here! haha I'll let you know. Yeah I know just getting a car that is more condusive to the types of things I would like to do would be easier, but I'm stubborn so who knows. Then again, I've always got a million ideas running through my head, if only had the money to play them all out!
