It tested the xj12 at $92k and change. That's a crazy markup for the bigger engine, considering the Vanden Plas was in the mid $60's...

For my 1991, the info @luvmyxjs was able to give me was:
Base XJ6: $43,000 USD
Sovereign (with sunroof, walnut inlays, etc.) $47,800 USD
Vanden Plas: $52,800
Fuel: 17-22mpg

Looking at the previous owners installment contract, he paid $48,899.00 here in Pennsylvania for my '93 4.0 conv.

I ordered a copy of the "Standard Guide;" it's really interesting and filled with cool info. Most interesting to me (as an XJ40 fan) is the big price jump in 1994. The base XJ6 was around $43-44k USD for most of 1988-92, but then in 1994 it jumped to $52k.

It then stayed pretty consistent for the next ten years, with the 2003 XJ8 at $56k USD.

My 1989 build (1990 compliance) coupe was $130,000AUD in 1990, that's about what I paid for my house in Sydney's northern suburbs. Adjusted for inflation based on Sydney house prices over $1M AUD in today's money.
