ignition coil replacement
i have a 1988 jaguar xjs with 2 ignition coil (main and auxiliary). I read that i can replace this coils with just one coil DAC 6093. Can anyone tell me or send me a diagram on wiring connections to do this ? Where can i buy this DAC 6093. Thank you for your help.

Look carefully at the coil attached to the capstan.
Identify the + and - posts on it (which will be tiny cast-in symbols on the top black casing).
ONE of the wires on EACH post will be coming from a loom that runs to the coil from the front of the engine. Remove these and tie them off.
Carefully mark the remaining wires with the + or - sign according to where they are fixed on the coil. Then remove them for the moment. Remove the HT lead that goes from the coil to the distributor
The old coil must be removed from the capstan
A new single coil can be bought from any of the XJS specialists, eg David Manners, SNG Barratt.
Replace the old coil with the new type and connect all the wires to their correct posts and the HT lead.
When you have a spare hour or two, remove the loom from the second coil that you disconnected from the main and remove it from the car.

If 1 coil is bad that bank will not fire and if run long enough will cause a fire.If both coils are bad it will not start.

It will not. Stick it in second and floor the throttle, if she revs to 5000 all is good. I have the 2 coil setup, and it works fine.

On the Lucas system there are two coils but they both supply both banks. The #2 coil can fail outright and the engine will run perfectly well...up to about 3000 RPM.
