Installed rebuilt AAV today
This is a shout-out for Greg in France and Grant down under, for all their help and insights in helping me confirm a bad AAV unit. I sent it out to Jonas Loda in Lithuania, and he did a fabulous rebuild job. I re-installed the unit this morning, and it works great. Got the idle screw turned in to achieve 750 rpm when fully warmed up (and that is a treat!). The car was off the road for 5 weeks waiting for shipping and customs to Lithuania, Jonas sent the part out Friday and I had it on Monday... Being I just got the car in January, this was a sorely needed boost!
Thanks again, guys, and everyone here on the forum who have been so helpful....couldn't do this without you all-

Hello! I try to maintain a certain "mindset" during the ownership of this lifetime dream, so I got the technician's work apron from Moss Motors. It is actually very handy, as I have a (bad, according to my wife) tendency to be walking by the car and think of something, and grab a wrench or screwdriver while still dressed in good clothes and start tinkering! It also has a couple of pockets which I use all the time.

Outstanding, Greg! You will be working in STYLE!!
I have done some preliminary troubleshooting on the stop light switch. There is a small limit stop tang, and the control arm was located in back of that (towards bonnet). That limiting tang seemed to possibly be bent slightly which allowed the control arm to get past it. It seems to be spring-loaded to the "on" position. The brake lites do go off if I rotate the arm fully against the spring tension. Interestingly, I do not note the small "limit" tang in the workshop or parts manual. I have to crawl under again to try to assess how this control arm should be situated, it seems that the brake pedal, when released, would be pressing the control arm against the spring. When the pedal is depressed any amount, it would have to start releasing tension on the control arm, and activate the brake lights. It looks like perhaps I will only have an adjusting issue. I did remove the unit and backing plate to play with it... the control arm must end up on the side of the pedal facing the boot?
