Installing Andy's Bracket on a Late Model AJ16
I have received Andy Stodart's bracket and was wondering if anyone here has installed it on a 95 or 96 XJS AJ16?
The instructions walks me through a process to remove the secondary air pump as well as the SC belt.
This seems to be the best way to access the old sensor and bracket assuming you want to work from the driver's side.
It appears that I can get to the sensor and bracket, without removing anything from the passengers side of the car. I can get my fingers on all of the bolts and it seems I may be able to replace this bracket without removing anything.
Does anyone here have any experience?

Well, I ended up going through the passenger's side (US) and it took me 15 minutes. Nothing extra needed to be removed.
It is slightly more difficult, in the fact that you'll be kind of working in the blind. You'll be able to see one of the bolts, but not the rear bolt. It's very easy to find by touch, just start at the sensor, which is relatively easy to find and work your way up.
I don't think its feasible to do without a long barrel 10mm socket. Also, the rear bolt is blocked by a belt, but is easily flexed aside for access. The bolts came off rather easily.
All in all, it was 15 minutes including the fact that I removed a wrong bolt AND I had one bolt back in before I decided to back it out and put some anti-seize on, so that should give you a good indication on how easy this really is by going through the passenger's side saving yourself the trouble of removing anything else, including belts.
I'll probably be back to let you know how the car responds. It did fire fight back up though.

Andy's Bracket
Took to it and installed Andy's bracket the other night, after 45 min and a couple of scratches I completed the task. Fired it up, seemed to run somewhat smoother, took it for a road test, ran great. The instructions were clear, if I can do it anyone can. I have owned two jags, 36 years apart. My first Jag was a 1968 240 sedan I purchased when I was in Scotland during the mid 70's, beautiful car, wish I could have brought it back... I also saw my 1st XJS while I was there as well, I am going to get one, some day. Well, about a month ago I finally picked up my XJS, took a little arm twisting from the Mrs., but got the o.k. I am hooked.

Please see this thread for the revised contact details that Andy would wish people to use if they are interested in one of the brackets for the AJ6 or AJ16 engines.

I am happy to own a 1996 XJS . MY improvements I notice after install, may be slightly different and not scientific than other owners can offer.
First, install is very easy, especially doing it myself with two left hands.
I used a wrench/spanner, low profile socket, and a mirrored probe held by an interested party. And of course a well lit, to be able to view the reflection of work area in mirror. Less than 15 minutes.
I haven't had an increase fuel mileage but the improvement in the ZIP of my CAT it is very noticeable.

Andy's Bracket - Highly Recommend
Based on this thread, I contacted Andy and purchased a timing advance bracket for my 1995 XJS AJ16. I received it within a week and installed it. It is an easy install. One of the bolts cannot be seen, but once you find it with your fingers, it is easy to get to. Nothing on the engine had to be removed to install the new bracket.
Un Scientific Evaluation: Wow! What a 'seat-of-the-pants' difference. The timing advance bracket has made my XKS very eager to get up and go. I haven't driven it enough yet to determine if the mpgs are affected or not, but the Smiles-per-Mile has increased significantly.
Thanks Andy!!
