Default Its my first attempt to clean my mass air flow sensor

This is what I plan to do. (1). Disconnect battery
(2). Remove air filter
(3). Disconnect connector from mass air sensor
(4). Remove air mass sensor
(5). Do not touch sensor
(6). Use only mass air sensor cleaner
(7). spray gently so not to damage sensor
(8). Let dry for at least an hour
Did I miss anything?

Well, I just finished. I sure am glad I did it! I took everything from the butterfly to the filter off. It was really nasty. The butterfly had a black ring around it. I doubt that it was closing all the way. When I was done, I started the car up and it went from the regular 800 rpm to 1000 rpm. It's cold right now, so I figure I will take it out and let it warm up and see if it drops back down to 800 rpm. I guess that was the air sensor that was screwed into the housing, it was pretty dirty as well.

Yes, the engine camcover deposits a fair amount of gunk into the butterfly. That is a common problem. If you really wanted to give it a thorough clean, wait till you see what's on the backside of that throttle butterfly! Four 10mm bolts and a small coolant line are all that you need to remove to take it off. No gaskets to worry about.

Your idle should be about 700rpm in Park, and 580rpm in gear.

I looked at those four bolts and thought about it, but I didn't want to bite off too much. I am changing the oil and filter as well. Hopefully, I will get a chance to jack up the rear end and look for my fuel filter. I take it the small bolt that adjust that butterfly is the idle adjustment? I still waiting for the Coolant sensor. Once I get that, hopefully it will take out the slight thump I'm getting at idle. If it does, then I can adjust my idle at 700 rpm.

No! Do not touch that screw. It is the butterfly adjustment, but will not affect your idle. Your butterfly needs to have a .002” gap. Most likely it’s fine. Butterfly very rarely goes out of adjustment.

Idle reset can only be made by Jaguar specific software. There’s a manual way to, but it involves making adjustment to the position of the TPS on the throttle body.

You were right. I took the throttle body off and it is pretty nasty. I am only planning on cleaning the throttle body. I was wondering what the tube is in the middle of this picture. It's hard for me to look up something in the manual if I don't know what it's called or what it is.

The AJ16 does not have anything there....that must be an AJ6 thing....someone else will come by and enlighten...

Where do the hose, or hoses that connect to it go?

Yes, My car has the 6 cylinder AJ6 engine. It is connected with metallic tubing.

Well, metallic on the right side and rubber on the left. The rubber one goes to a diaphragm of some sort then it looks like it goes to that canister I have on the left side (facing out the window, American left side drive) wheel well. I still have no idea what that canister is, might be for emissions. What ever that tube sticking up in the picture is, as you can see it's plugged up, so I can't see where it would be doing any good.
